Ask FRED: terms and privacy
For the founding rep preview, from 3 November 2026.
Who we are
Ask FRED is made by CaskAid, the cellar app for cask ale pubs. In these terms "we" and "us" means CaskAid, a trading name of AidFamily Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17549747, registered office 3 Greenbank Crescent, Marple, Stockport, SK6 7PB. You can reach us at [email protected].
The founding rep preview
- Ask FRED is free for founding reps while we get it right. We won't charge you anything without asking you first, and we'll tell you well before anything changes.
- It's an early version. Some things will change, and some things may not work as they should. Please tell us when they don't.
- You can stop using it at any time. Email us if you'd like your account and its data deleted.
FRED's answers are general guidance
- FRED gives general cellar guidance, step by step. It is not a site visit, a survey or a guarantee that a fault will be fixed.
- Gas, electrics and cellar coolers: always call a qualified engineer. Never serve beer that looks, smells or tastes wrong.
- Always follow the brewery's own advice and the instructions for the equipment.
Cellar Quality Check reports
- A Cellar Quality Check is a walk-round by you, with the pub. It is not an inspection, audit or accreditation.
- It is based on the kind of checks Cask Marque inspectors look for. It is not connected with or approved by Cask Marque.
- Each report has its own link and QR code. Anyone with the link can open that report, so only send it to the pub (or people the pub is happy to see it).
- A report shows the pub's name, the person you showed round, the answers and any notes you type, and your name, company and code. Please only add what the pub is happy to have written down, and nothing about anyone's health or private life.
Using Ask FRED at work
You're responsible for using Ask FRED in line with your employer's rules. Your code on a report lets a pub tell CaskAid who sent them. Rewards for referrals are not part of the preview; if they come later, they will have their own terms.
What we keep, and why
- Your account: your email address, name and the brewery or supplier you work for, and when you agreed to these terms. We use them to sign you in, to put your name on your reports and to contact you about Ask FRED.
- What you do in the app: your FRED chat counts, your cellar set-up answers, your calculator settings, and questions FRED couldn't answer (so we can add the answers to FRED). This is saved to your account so it follows you to a new phone.
- Your reports, as described above.
- We don't sell your data and we don't use advertising trackers. The app keeps a copy of your data on your phone so it works with a poor signal, and remembers that you're signed in.
- Your data is stored with our database provider, Supabase (data held in London, UK), and the app is served by Cloudflare. Sign-in codes are sent by email through our email provider.
- We keep your account while you use Ask FRED. [How long reports are kept: proposed 2 years, then deleted.] Email us to see, correct or delete your data.
- If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first. You can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Fair use
Please don't misuse Ask FRED: no sharing your account, no copying FRED's content to build something else, and nothing unlawful or abusive in reports or notes. We may close an account that does.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll ask you to agree again in the app before you carry on.
